**Fargo, ND** — Deep inside a toolbox, bottom drawer, cradled in a velvet-lined groove (actually just greasy shop rag residue) in the darkest recesses of a craftsman’s rolling chest, a MAC S134 5/16" x 3/8" 6 point brake bleeder 90 degree double box wrench is officially calling it quits on hope.

The highly specialized tool, forged from hardened steel and coated in chrome vanadium, estimates it has spent 99.998% of its existence since rolling off the assembly line doing absolutely nothing.

### **'I Have Skills, You Know!'**

"Look, I get it. I'm not a 1/2-inch impact gun. I don't go 'Whirr-Rattle-Dakka-Dakka' and make everyone feel powerful," the wrench stated, its offset angle shimmering pathetically in the dim light. "But I have a very specific set of skills. Skills that make me a nightmare for air bubbles trapped in hydraulic fluid. I have a box end! I have a flex-head! I was born to bleed!"

"I’m basically just a paperweight with a hexagon hole" - **MAC S134, Bottom drawer of loneliness*

The wrench recalled a fleeting moment in 2018 when a technician picked it up, turned it over, said "Huh," and then immediately used a rusty pair of vise-grips to round off the bleeder screw instead.

### **A Master of Doing Nothing**

Experts in tool psychology confirm that specialization is a double-edged sword. While the brake bleeder wrench is a master of its craft, its craft only needs to be performed when a vehicle actually needs new brake lines, or when someone accidentally lets the master cylinder run dry.

"We feel for him," said a nearby Phillips-head screwdriver, which has been used as a chisel, a scraper, and a pry bar this week alone. "But look at the metric socket set over there. They’re missing five members. Total burnout. Maybe being obsolete isn't the worst fate."

The wrench, however, remains unconvinced, pointing out that even the novelty extendable magnet on a stick gets to go on "rescue missions" three times a day.

### **Retirement Looks Like a Dark Drawer**

The wrench is currently petitioning for a transfer to a less stressful environment, like the junk drawer in the service advisor's desk, where it hopes to at least be confused for a bottle opener.

"I just want to be involved," the wrench added. "Last week, they used a hammer to open a paint can. A hammer! I have a flat edge. I could have helped with that. I could have been someone."
